GRACE ~ What is it? Who gives it? Who gets it?
Grace is a gift from God to His people, provided
through the suffering of His Son, the Word, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Grace is GIVEN to us because we are UNABLE to earn it. Therefore, grace will
not be withdrawn from us if or when we fail to meet the mark of holiness set
before us as the way. Why would a Father give his son a free gift and then take
it away because the recipient hadn’t earned the gift. It would no longer be
classified as a gift! The way to salvation is through relationship with Jesus
Christ. It is not through works of living up to the standards of morality that
God has demanded. The Word says that without holiness, no man shall see the
Father…BUT if you have seen Jesus, you have seen the father BECAUSE HE, JESUS,
is the righteousness in us that the Father sees. He cannot see righteousness or
holiness in us without Christ standing before us because we don’t have those
things. The desires of the human heart are only evil all the time. That is
precisely why Jesus died for the sins of the world WHILE WE WERE STILL SINNERS! (Rom. 5:8)
If anyone tells you that because you have “accepted Jesus into your heart” that
you can longer sin or risk losing His grace and even your salvation if you fail
to meet the mark, that person would be lying. The purpose of this lie would be
to hold you up as an example to others that follow his teaching. He will insist
that your moral character and good behaviour are because of his teaching and he
will suggest that God has anointed him especially to lead you. This is social
engineering…a manipulation of the frail mind of the new Christian whose faith
is already hanging by a thread. If you are the one doing this, “STOP IT!” God does not need you
to gather His people and clean them up. Noone comes to the Father but he who is chosen by the
Father.
